There are definite signs that the world is moving on from Covid. After a two year absence, South African Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioners Association (Saripa) started off 2022 with a bang by reinstituting its regional conferences.
On 30 June, Saripa members joined the industry association at the iconic Villa Acadia at the Hollard Campus in Parktown, Johannesburg for the second Saripa Northern Conference of the year.
BRPs and Insolvency Practitioners were treated to two high level discussions. Lizelle Acker, an Advocate of the High Court, discussed the issue of insolvency practitioners recovering their fees in an environment where the landscape can change at a moments notice. After a networking breakfast, Colin Strime (Chairperson of the Saripa Northern Conference) chaired a round table discussion which included Phahlani Mkhombo (MD of Genesis Corporate Solutions) and a high level delegation from the South African Revenue Service to discuss tax matters that occur during a business rescue.
A fun day was had by all and anticipation is building for the Saripa National Conference which is taking place at Fancort in November.
